I’ve always had a let’s-do-it attitude and a penchant for stripy tights. Well, I did in 1988…
From my early years at Art College in Leamington Spa and then in London in the 1990’s at the Royal College of Art I threw my creative passions into clothes and costumes, honing my skills and learning my craft, gaining an MA in Womenswear Design.
I spent the next 20 years styling and designing for many of the legends of the music business – from Iron Maiden to The Rolling Stones, from Skunk Anansie to Duran Duran and Bryan Ferry. My work can be seen in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for U2, in Vogue, Dazed & Confused and NME, in music videos, at Glastonbury for Skin, in the Albert Hall for Bryan Ferry. Working with many different artists in different settings, I became a trusted collaborator. I learnt to interpret the look and feel of the artist and their work, keeping their unique identity whilst creating a look that worked – from the madness and energy of Iron Maiden to the cool edge of later Duran Duran to the sensitivity beneath the toughness of Skin, I learnt to use my design and communication skills in the service of other’s artistic visions.
In the noughties my life took a different direction, I set up my own lifestyle store to bring style and flair to the heart of England. I became a design lecturer at the London College of Fashion and I continued my links with the music industry, this time as a tour manager for Bryan Ferry. Managing big budgets, people and resources around the world. In this period, I focussed on developing my skills in planning, logistics, financial control and people management.
And now, with practical and creative experience in many settings, I’ve all the skills I need to create a joyful collaboration with my clients, a creative relationship with one purpose in mind – to make real exciting designed spaces which reflect my clients’ best lives - and comes in on budget.
